FAQs

Are you open to the public, or do I need a membership?

Capital City Clays is open to the public! While membership is optional, it offers significant savings for frequent shooters. We’re open Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, but you must arrive by 5:00 PM to shoot. Check our online calendar for updates on course or club closures.
Do you rent shotguns?

No, we currently do not rent shotguns. Please bring your own shotgun.
Can I use other firearms like rifles or pistols?

Only shotguns are allowed on the premises. Pistols, rifles, or any other firearms are prohibited.
Do you sell ammunition?

Yes, we sell 12-, 20-, and 28-gauge shells to the public. Please note, we do not carry 16-gauge or .410 shells.
Do you offer instructors or classes?

Yes, we partner with certified instructors for private lessons. Contact instructors directly for rates and scheduling here. Additionally, we host various clay shooting classes throughout the year. Visit our event calendar for upcoming sessions.
Can I bring my own targets?

No, outside targets are not allowed. Additionally, loading our machines is prohibited.
Can I bring my own golf cart?

Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own golf cart. We also offer golf cart rentals for your convenience. Our facility has ample parking for trucks and trailers.
Do you rent golf carts?

Yes, golf carts are available for rent. You can also bring your own.
Do you provide ear and eye protection?

Yes, eye protection can be borrowed, and we provide free earplugs for all guests. Ear and eye protection is mandatory.
Do I need to make a reservation?

No reservations are needed. Walk-ins are welcome!
What are the age requirements to shoot?

There are no age restrictions. However, minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
How long does it take to shoot sporting clays?

Plan for at least one hour to complete a session of sporting clays.
Is there a dress code?

No dress code, but we recommend wearing closed-toed shoes for safety.
Does the weather affect your operating hours?

Yes, bad weather may affect our hours. Please call ahead to confirm if we’re open during inclement weather.
Do you sell food or drinks?

We offer free snacks in the clubhouse and sell sodas, water, and other beverages. Free water is also available in the shooting areas. However, food is not available to purchase on-site.
Can I bring alcohol?

Yes, you can bring alcohol to enjoy after shooting. Alcohol consumption is limited to guests 21 and older.
What is an NSCA event?

An NSCA event is a clay shooting competition sanctioned by the National Sporting Clays Association. Visit the NSCA website for more details.
